We are here with one propose : we want to learn other languages. However , there is one big difficulty we find when we are doing so. it is hard to find someone to practice with. In my personal experience. I cannot find many people to talk with because not many people are really willing to do it . it is difficult to use what is being taught in the classroom in a practical environment. And in that situation, a question arises: How should one practice what one is learning? fortunately modern times and technology are helping us now.
Internet social network services focuses on building online communities of people who share interests. Among many social network services on the web. there is one whose main objective is helping people in practicing their abilities in a foreign language . this social network service is called soziety.
Soziety is a social network in which users can learn languages through skype ( a software application that allows users to make voice calls over internet) This network is so easy to use that i had the opportunity to chat with one of the site administrators, Guido Garcia, even though he is in Spain . below is our conversation:
Q: Who are the developers of this website?
A: Unlike what many people think, there isn't any enterprise behind soziety. we are just a couple of students from the university of valladolid in Spain who were tired of losing money when learning new languages.
Q: How did you come up with the idea?
A: There are a lot of people trying to learn a new language without being sucessful. For instance , we have been studying English for ten years without mastering it, and we thought this would be a good way to do it without becoming broke.
Q: What are the advantages of using this service?
A: maybe, the main advantage is that you can practice with native speaker ( or not) completely free. besides , when you are practicing a language in soziety , you are practicing the real language people use on the streets. This is really hard to do in a language academy, besides
